Touch, Presence & Healing
A Course in Energy-Active Bodywork with Jim Gilkeson
This
is a course series for bodyworkers who want to blend energetic
principles and practices with their bodywork practice. Participants will
work in a non-modality-bound way with both the physical structure and
the energy field of their treatment partners.
Regardless
of the bodywork modalities you use, there is a way to bring the world of energy
and consciousness into your touchwork. This class is about integrating
meditative energywork practices into your hands-on (and hands-off) work so that
your bodywork becomes energy-active bodywork. I am a bodyworker myself, but I was involved with energywork practice
long before I became a craniosacral and massage therapist. In these
courses, I draw on over 25 years of experience in what I have come to
call "energy-active bodywork."
Course I: Touch, Presence & Healing
Topics will include: * Working at the cusp of structure and energy * The physical body as a "handle" on phyical, emotional and psycho-spiritual processes * A non-modality-bound approach to energetic bodywork * The development from bodyworker to healer * Recurring psycho-spiritual themes in energetic work and their application in energy-active bodywork
Course II: Resistance, Release and Renewal
Course II builds on what you learned in Course I. Topics will include: * The role of resistance in healing work * Non-forcing release tactics * Energy-based developmental practices for hands-on bodyworkers Recommended for massage and bodywork therapists, body-centered psychotherapists

- Learn simple, effective energywork practices that open
you to your own energy system;
- Learn non-forcing release techniques;
- Learn to support the self-healing processes in your
healing partner;
- Grow in your practice of touchwork.
"Students
of bodywork will not stop needing solid fundamentals of anatomy and
physiology, therapeutic massage and bodywork, business and an ethics of
truly skilled healing relationship. But those who are attracted to
energy-oriented bodywork and therapy are in need of an education that
prepares them for spiritual process as well. This is because the tools
of energywork are derived from age-old spiritual practices, the ancient
technology of consciousness, aimed toward nothing less than receiving
what Joseph Campbell called "the inexhaustible energies of the cosmos,"
something which has implications far grander than even our contemporary
notions of 'optimum health.'"
